About a month ago, somebody suggested to someone else the theory that maybe nobody lived in 'North Dakota'. This resulted in the someone else looking for license plates from North Dakota, during my recent drive from NJ to the Niagara Falls. No luck, or theory not proven incorrect: no license plates from North Dakota, despite seeing plates from just about anywhere else.
Finally, a month later, the theory has been proven wrong. ND (North Dakota) does exist, and there are persons living there. The below 6 pictures as proof of cars with ND license plates.
I have to say that it took us a long time before we saw even one. The first one was observed only 75 miles before entering the state. And even after entering the state, the majority of the license plates were still not from ND (most of them from Minnesota).
We will stay the night in Fargo, ND (in honor of the movie). Tomorrow, we will cross the state, and it already feels like we will be crossing the end of the world. If we don't make contact with the world tomorrow, we will have been sucked up by this vast nothingness of ND. I hope we survive, and I hope Montana will bring even more excitement.

Actually, the theory was that North Dakota didn't really exist, since nobody knew anybody from ND. Moreover, nobody evene knew anybody that knew somebody living in ND. But now that you have driven there and let the dogs mark the territory by peeing there, you have proven that theory wrong. Thanks for taking the effort !
(According to Wikipedia, there are only 640.000 residents in ND, no wonder you don't see any ND licence plates around in the US).
Hey! I have greyhounds and live in North Dakota. Southwestern corner (almost Montana or South Dakota).
Well, we just finished driving through.
During our drive from 7:30am to about 3:30pm, when we left the state, I actually spent my time counting all the cars that were driving on the highway in our direction (the cars we passed and the cars that passed us). I excluded the count when we left the highway to let the greys out or to have food.
A whopping total of 94 cars, of which 35 had a ND plate, and the other 59 had plates from other states.
94 cars in about 7 hours on the road gives an average 13.4 per hour. What an excitement :-).
We have entered Montana (MT)...
To Sara Regan Snavely:
As you probably read, we are on the road from West Orange NJ to Napa CA, with our two 4-year-old greyhounds.
We crossed ND on 94, and entered MT now.
We enjoyed the drive through ND, with its beautiful scenery variety of landscape.
HI Sarah,
This is Alexandra, Jos's wife. I loved driving through North Dakota! Beautiful country and very nice and friendly people. Send pics of your greys, we would love to see them! bye bye.
Pleased to hear you arrived safely in your new home!
