I went for my last jogging session in West Orange a few days ago. It hurt a bit, but I just had to do it, saying goodbye to all the houses and streets that I ran for so many years.
8 years, averaging 250 days per year, averaging 3-4 miles per day, makes a total of about 7,000 miles of running. I guess I could run to Napa and back (a few times over); it would just take me a couple of years.
I had the idea of taking one of the greys with me a few times, but the concept never materialized: I told myself that they would not be able to run that long, but maybe I was afraid of being outrun by them.
I have forgotten most of my runs already, but the memories of having Geert jog on my side many years ago and running with Dirk just a few weeks ago will always stay with me...

Good to know you're training... Don't forget, there's Sao Silvestre at the end of the year!!!
Wanna bet some beers?!? hehehe
The half-marathon in Japan many years ago comes to mind.
MS
Marathons, half-marathons, and Sao Silvestre races were always in group, or together with some other person at least. My daily runs here in West Orange were usually in perfect solitute, done as a kind of daily meditation; not bad for an introvert like me :-)
Never achieved 'satori' though (and didn't even get close).
not even 'kensho' once in a while ? (I know, I know, I looked it up in Wikipedia...). Well, you certainly need to be 'zen' (both of you !) to drive that distance together. Have fun !
Don´t forget to pack your copy of "ZEN AND THE ART OF MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE"... or maybe it should be "Zen and the art of not killing your spouse"..???
I like my sister's suggestion, especially about not killing the spouse, though I am the one on danger here :-) hehe
That book was the first one to be boxed, wanting to make sure I took it along :-)
It will go along with my vynil records, that have now made it on their next move, starting in Belgium, moving to Japan, Belgium, Brazil, USA (pinebrook), USA (bloomfield), USA (west orange), and now USA (Napa). The box has never been opened...
More about that in another post later.
If I remember correctly, you bought that book on a street stand in front of The MET, in NY,1997, right?
I still have the book I bought there too, though I don´t recall the name...
